Eugene Jenkins, DVM
Dr. Jenkins recently joined the staff of professionals at Crosspoint Veterinary Hospital. His education background includes earning a bachelor of science degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences from West Virginia University. He then studied at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, and completed a clinical year at Louisiana State University to obtain his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Jenkins is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Jenkins was inspired to become a veterinarian when he was a young boy. Growing up in a family that always had a dog or a cat for a pet, he enjoyed having the responsibility for their care. At age 15, he began working at a veterinary clinic as a kennel assistant, and his love for animals has continued to grow ever since.
For Dr. Jenkins, the most important part of being a veterinarian is to have appropriate communication with clients about their pets’ needs. Communication amongst the staff is also very important for the hospital to function effectively and efficiently.
The most difficult aspect of being a veterinarian is when he has to inform pet owners about fatal illnesses that their pets may have.
As a new member of the staff at Crosspoint Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Jenkins believes that the hospital is unique because the staff go above and beyond the expectations of their clients. He and Dr. McHughes make sure that owners have no concerns before leaving the facility. The staff is also incredibly compassionate and knowledgeable.
